Hermès Foulard Brazil 1988/89, design by Laurence Bourthoumieux, bold design, shows the ways feathers are in life and the ritual traditions of the natives of Brazil.

Today's Hermès scarf measures 90cm × 90cm,

they weigh about 65 grams and are woven from the silk of 250 mulberry moth cocoons.

All hems are hand stitched.

Since 1937, Hermès has produced over 2,000 unique designs.

Headscarves (squares) were introduced in 1937 with "Jeu des Omnibus et Dames Blanches".

The company's headscarf designers spend years creating

new print templates that are individually screen printed.

Designers can choose from over 70,000 different colors
