Chanel Date Code
Authentication of a Chanel bag is quite complex, here is a series of tips for when you buy and you are not sure of buying an authentic product in a specialized store: never rush to examine an item, take the time needed to view.
One of the thousand things to look for to recognize an original Chanel product is its codes and other specific characteristics.
Chanel uses a system of dating codes to identify the year of production of bags and accessories.
The Data code is an element to consider but for authentication there are many elements to evaluate, only expert and competent personnel can evaluate the originality of the product.
These codes are found on an internal label and vary according to the year of production:
from 1986-1996 The code consists of 6 characters
from 1996 to 2004 The code is made up of 7 characters
from 2005 onwards The code consists of 8 characters
from 2021 onwards The code is not present but only Rfid Chip microchips.
Above the codes there is the Chanel logo sticker and it is the transparent protection with safety features, as it would self-destruct if you try to remove it.
Since 2000, the cards have also been equipped with a hologram.
Serial number stickers can come off bags over time, just as authenticity cards can get lost over the years, so the lack of these elements does not necessarily affect the authenticity of the product.
To be sure of the originality of your product we always recommend that you contact an expert or even better an authorized Chanel store that will be able to give you all the information you need.
The quality of materials and workmanship is fundamental,
The leather must be of high quality only, soft to the touch and free from visible defects.
Seams must be even and well done, with no loose or misaligned threads either externally or internally.
Metal elements (zippers, chains, logo) must be sturdy, well-made, and almost always have the "Chanel" logo engraved on them.
The Logo is composed of two intertwined Cs that must be well aligned and proportionate. The right C passes over the left C at the top and under it at the bottom.
Recognizing an original Chanel product requires attention to detail and also, but not only, knowledge of specific codes.
